Listing Photo Guidelines

To ensure your item gets used as often as possible, here are some tips for listing photos! We reserve the right to edit or remove any photos that do not meet these criteria.

Do:

  • Feature yourself (or a friend) wearing the item. Celeb is a social app, and we want to see how you style the item you listed, rather than the stock image of it!

  • Use solo shots. Including photos with groups of people makes it harder to tell which item is being listed, try to use photos that only feature one person wearing the item!

  • Show different angles. Listings with multiple photos do better than those with a single photo. Show off the item from multiple angles (and maybe styled different ways too) to give the best idea of the piece.

  • Photograph the size tag (if present). This helps give our Celebs comfort that the item is described as the proper size and allows them to research sizing for the particular brand more easily.

  • Use good lighting. Natural light works best to show the colors and textures of your item. Take photos in daylight in a well-lit room and be mindful of harsh shadows from direct sun!

  • Choose a clean background. Try to keep the focus on the item, not the background. Whenever possible, have only one subject in the photo (who is wearing the item).

  • Capture details. Take some close-ups shots to show off the details and intricacies of the piece!

Don’t:

  • Use images that belong to someone else without permission. Taking images from retail sites or someone else’s social media is a violation of copyright law (and not very nice)! Only use images that belong to you, or you are directly allowed to use.

  • Photograph clothes on hangars/laying down. These photos don’t show off items very well.

  • Photograph wrinkled/dirty clothes. Make sure the item looks pristine, it’ll make people more likely to use it!

  • Add text to your images. Images should stand on their own. Use the listing description to add any details about the item itself.

  • Include photos that aren’t of the real item. Listings should have photos that accurately represent the item. Don’t include photos of different items than the one being rented!
